WhatsApp running scam, Delhi Police alerts users

Delhi Police has asked WhatsApp users to be especially alert these days as their accounts are being hacked under a new scam. Delhi Police said that efforts are being made to steal the financial details of WhatsApp users through this fraud. Delhi Police gave this information through several tweets.

According to these tweets, hackers are hacking users' accounts using WhatsApp's WhatsApp two-factor authentication. Hackers obtain WhatsApp verification PIN from users using fake account with display photo with official logo of WhatsApp. They show that they are from the technical team of WhatsSS and send a message to users asking them to share a 6-digit verification PIN to verify identity.

As soon as the user shares the verification PIN, his WhatsApp account gets hacked. After this, hackers hack that WhatsApp account and send fraudulent messages to friends and family, asking for money, PIN, OTP.
